				      Announcement and Call for Papers

		Special Issue: "Popular Hinduism and Society in India"


The _International Journal of Hindu Studies_ is planning a special issue
for September 1998 on Popular Hinduism and Society in India. We welcome
submissions of an interdisciplinary nature. Comparative and theoretical
articles are especially encouraged. 

Manuscripts should be no longer than 30-35 pages, including endnotes and
references. They should be prepared according to the _International
Journal of Hindu Studies_ style sheet (which will be sent on request). 
Authors should send _four_ copies of their manuscript to the Editorial
Secretary, _International Journal of Hindu Studies_, International
Institute of India Studies, 1270 St-Jean, St-Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada J2S
8M2. Manuscripts must arrive no later than September 1997, in order to be
considered for the special issue. Manuscripts will be evaluated through
the usual _International Journal of Hindu Studies_ peer reviews.
