PORTRAYALS OF PROTEST:
Depicting Mohandas Gandhi and India's Independence Movement

Program:
Portions of Attenborough's film GANDHI and documentary footage from 
LEADERS OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY will be screened. Discussants will 
contreast the film presentationbs of the Salt March to explore how Gandhi 
and the movement for independence in India have been portrayed to 
contemporary audiences.

The program will be followed by a recpetion and viewing of the exhibit 
MAHATMA GANDHI IN THE SERVICE OF HUMANITY, which will be on display in 
the Herbert H. Lehman Library, Columbia University, from Monday, April 
17th through Thursday, May 4th.
