Origin and symbology of "Monsoon rain"

The English "monsoon" does come from "mausam", which is not Persian but
Arabic in origin. "Mausam" is the Arabic word for season or time, and is a
loan-word in Persian, Hindi and several NIA languages, but is not found in
Sanskrit.
